It’s a hot, crazy summer in the city. It’s 6 PM and a big bright orangey glass pops up in the hand of every single person at the bar. You don’t have to guess twice to tell what they are drinking. It’s a bright red-orange hue that gives a nice balance between bitter and sweet with herby citrusy notes, and just the right amount of sparkling fizz.


Personally I was never fond of the original recipe, which calls for three parts of Prosecco, two parts of Aperol and one part of soda. If you like your cocktails sweeter than bitter then you may agree with me. Though I did always felt ashamed, this drink is so famous and instagrammable that it would be a sin to miss it out on hot summer nights, so I had to come up with something we can still call Aperol Spritz, but with some extra feature that fulfills my taste.
I will say that the extra taste I added I cannot take full credit for, I was inspired by Hailey Bieber’s new what’s in my kitchen episode where with Kendall they are making a passionfruit spritz, so this will be something similar and in the meantime completely different.



If you like a sweeter taste to your cocktail, then I definitely recommend to try out this recipe as the passionfruit liquor has the additional sugar in it, you will get a definitely warmer spritz and while you’d think it would be too sweet for you, the lime juice nicely balances the sweetness out and keeps our cocktail on the ground. The thyme and orange sprinkle are the last touch which brings out the orange flavor from the Aperol, so you can still feel like the fanciest woman in an Italian piazza on a hot summer afternoon.
